You begin your whitewater rafting adventure at Rainbow Park in Dinosaur National Monument about 25 miles from Vernal, Utah (click here to see Map). Here the Green River has carved a spectacular canyon through the middle of a giant bulge in the earth's surface, called the Split Mountain Anticline. From river level the canyon walls rise dramatically to over 1,500 feet high. Majestic pine trees and wild flowers cling to the steep cliffs and overhangs. To the geologists or nature lover it is one of the most spectacular geological areas in the west. Colorful rock strata range from the Morrison formation, which contains the Dinosaur fossils and is over 140 million years old, to the Madison formation almost 400 mil. years old.

Over the 9 mile length of this trip we encounter light to medium difficulty (Class III) rapids which make for some great rafting. These intermediate rapids are suitable for first time or experienced rafters. Families and children 6 years and older are welcome to join in the fun. We are the only company in DNM to offer the excitement of paddle rafts, where you grab a paddle and help maneuver the boat with the aid of a professional guide. This is by far our most popular mode because you participate in the action and no previous experience is needed. We also offer oar rafts (where the guide does all rowing) by request.

WE PROVIDE A HEARTY LUNCH, beverage and all river rafting related equipment. Children's age limit is 7 years. Weather in the summer boating season is generally sunny and hot with highs in 80's or 90's, but you should be prepared for infrequent brief rainshowers.
