The Free-Flowing Yampa River
The Yampa River is the last major free-flowing river in the Colorado River system and relies on spring snow melt to be navigable. Due to its natural flows the only time you can raft the Yampa River is during runoff in May and early June. Fun and splashy waves can be found throughout the trip, but Warm Springs is the longest and most difficult rapid to navigate.
Leave No Trace Camping
There are no roads on this section of the Yampa River, so all food and gear will be packed on rafts and brought to a remote camp each night. Leave no trace camping is essential to keep the Yampa River pristine. Plan to pack out whatever you pack in. Portable toilets, privacy tents and hand-washing stations are provided.
